| C. T. Ladd Syracuse, New York Works are primarily in watercolors, oils, and color pencil. The images are a result of trying to play with light and color and trying to capture certain moods and atmospheres. Motifs are drawn from various locales, stemming from a strong interest in the sense of place. Favored motifs involve water or maritime elements. People are in the scenes to try to create a feeling of "being there." Favorite artists include Monet, Renoir, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, the illustrators Howard Pyle, and N. C. Wyeth, the maritime painter, John Stobart, and a number of individuals from the Hudson River School. |
